Cash Saving Tips

Cutting expenses, even in small ways, can add up to big savings. Try a few of these practically painless ways to save money every month.
  • Make your daily coffee run to your kitchen rather than the local coffee shop. Take advantage of free coffee at work, if it is provided by your employer.
  • Review your cable bill and cancel the channels you don’t watch. Many people pay for premium packages but rarely watch the extra channels.
  • Review your mobile phone plan to be sure it is the most economical plan for you.
  • Stick to an entrée and water when dining out. Drinks, appetizers, and dessert can double your bill.
  • Avoid shopping at convenience stores. The prices are usually much higher than grocery stores.
  • Take advantage of free entertainment. Going to a park, museum, art festival, or special event can be a cheap date as long as you avoid the expensive food and drink vendors.
  • Take your lunch to work or school.
  • Ask your doctor to prescribe generic medicines.
  • Avoid buying a sale item just because it’s a great deal. It’s only a bargain if you really need it!
  • Go to less expensive matinee movies.
  • Install a programmable thermostat. Set the program to allow the heating or cooling system to turn off during hours you are at work or school.
